Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing is a specialty of caring for women during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period. To have healthy children, it is important to promote the health of the childbearing women and their families from the time before childbirth. The Obstetrics and Gynecological Department is designed for graduate students to develop in-depth knowledge and skill of students in different settings of maternity nursing, including physical and psychological aspect of parenting.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing department is supported by a team of highly qualified faculty members, each with extensive clinical experience and advanced degrees in their specialty. These dedicated educators are passionate about mentoring students and employ innovative teaching methodologies, including interactive lectures and real-world case studies, to foster deep understanding. The department is equipped with a  newest technology simulation lab, featuring advanced mannequins that replicate various maternal and neonatal scenarios, allowing students to practice essential skills in a safe environment.

CLASS/ TRAINING PROGRAMME: 

Different Teaching-Learning methods are employed during the educational process, including lectures, role-plays, demonstrations, seminars, panel discussions, group discussions, symposiums, and field trips. Student understanding is regularly assessed through unit tests, sessional exams, and model exams for both theory and practical aspects of the curriculum.
The students received adequate clinical experiences related to obstetrics and gynecology from District hospital (Kannur), General hospital (Thalassery). We have gynecological posting in our parent hospital Malabar Medical Centre .Students received very good clinical experiences and are also provided with facilities of doing all the procedures for improving their clinical skills.
